THE FINAL CANADIAN DDP OF 2011 WAS A SUCCESS (IN SOME REGARDS).

Even though it was -10 below and snowing, a couple thousand people showed up and got wild with us on Saturday night in Saskatoon…

Big thanks to the Saskatoon police for ensuring everything went smoothly.

And we survived another death-defying hellride home through the mountains (the drive from Vancouver to Saskatoon and back is 3200km- almost one tenth the circumference of earth).

Big thanks to everyone who came out and supported the cause!

The only downside was that we lost 100 stereos that night, an all time low :(
We have created THIS EVENT PAGE in order to help recover them. Please spread the word and help us sustain the Party Revolution!

A photo essay of the entire adventure is located HERE.

It’s Time To Share The Decentralized Sound System With The World.

Gary recently shared the Decentralized Sound System (DSS) with Occupy Vancouver:

The DSS is extremely resilient and extremely effective and 20 boomboxes can easily transmit music or voice to a crowd of 500. It is infinitely scalable, completely portable and can also be rigged to broadcast silently through headphones when noise regulations are an issue. All of the equipment is compact, inexpensive and readily available. And it can communicate twice as fast as the human microphone. For these reasons, it is believed that Decentralized Sound Systems would be a great asset to the Occupy movement.

And so this video was created. And so it is hoped that you will share it with anyone related to the Occupy movement and/or anyone who could use a DSS to better communicate/have more fun.

Get in touch HERE if you’d like more info on how to create your own DSS or discuss the topics covered in the video above. A PDF of The Future Will Not Be Centralized is available HERE.

Gary is also currently working very hard to get all the content back up on the brand new Decentralized Community website. For the moment it is unfortunately unimpressive…

In the near future, we’ll be releasing a step-by-step guide detailing how to create your own rock solid DSS and use it to throw life-changing Parties and/or aid world-changing social movements.

We’ve also just released the full Party Safari 2011 video, which is a great demonstration of the DSS’s ability to create good times for thousands of people:

We’ve also released an Indiegogo fundraising page so we can hopefully throw Saskatoon the Halloween Party they were promised. Due to unfortunate time constraints, it can’t be held until November 5th. But that is Gary’s birthday, so it’s all good, right?

ALSO! The American Party Safari is still definitely going ahead. All info HERE.

Decentralized Demonstrations require a Decentralized Sound System.

THIS is the Human Microphone:

“From its outset, Occupy Wall Street protestors have not been allowed to use any kind of electronic amplification devices. In being denied the use of bullhorns they have reverted to seemingly archaic means of mass communication, the so-called ‘human microphone.’ During any large group meetings, or even when someone in the Zuccoti Park camp has something they feel is important to say, they yell ‘mic check’ which is then echoed among the surrounding people with each subsequent sentence parsed into easily communicable segments. While the analog, and perhaps unifying, method of widespread communication has been moderately functional it has drawn some criticism for its inability to get across anything more than easily packaged information.”

THIS is a Decentralized Sound System:

The DSS is extremely resilient and extremely effective and 20 boomboxes can easily transmit music or voice to a crowd of 500. It is infinitely scaleable, and can also be rigged to broadcast silently to portable radios with headphones when noise regulations are an issue. All the equipment required is portable, cheap and readily available.

For these reasons, I believe that Decentralized Sound Systems could be a great asset to the #Occupy movement…

Occupy Wall Street, and the greater #Occupy movement are decentralized, open-source protest movements, the first of their kind. With no clear leaders or explicit demands, they’ve been grossly misunderestimated, especially by the older generation.

But I believe very strongly that decentralization / open-source is the wave of the future and that this movement has the potential to steer Humanity in a very positive direction.

As such, the Decentralized Sound System will be brought out to the Occupy Vancouver rally tomorrow in order to demonstrate its communication capabilities, aid in the discussions, and play some Hot Tracks.

We need some help setting up. If you want to get involved, please contact asap!
