“ANAD” stands for “Another Night, Another Dream“

It is easily our favorite phrase, and the title of a documentary film that will soon reveal

WHAT’S UP WITH THE MOVIE?

ANAD chronicles the rise of the DDP and our five crazed Party Safari tours (which are illustrated in great detail on the Global Party Pandemic page, which you should really check out).

Along the way, you’ll get to know Tom and Gary and The Elite Banana Task Force, enjoy the company and wisdom of the many incredible people we meet along the road, and be struck with awe as the hilarious and unlikely evolution of this thing is fully revealed..

It charts the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the DDP as our Party Philosophy is developed, and showcases a side of America, Canada and The Human Condition hitherto unseen…

Much of it was filmed during the height of the Occupy protests across the USA, and our unique approaches to reclaiming public space inevitably collide in fascinating and unexpected ways…

ANAD will also serve as a detailed strategy guide, demonstrating to others how to safely and successfully create their own DDPs.

The title of the film, “Another Night, Another Dream”, is a nod to 90’s Dance Icons Real McCoy, as well as the phrase we’d grinningly utter almost every single night on tour as we rolled into unknown territory and set loose a renegade explosion of unadulterated human liberation, with no permits or permissions, with a full police escort, night after night, in banana suits 🙂

WHAT STAGE IS THE FILM AT RIGHT NOW?

We’ve been documenting this thing heavily from day one and have now amassed over 600 hours of footage. A lot of which is really incredible.

For this reason, we’ll actually be creating two films. One will be a 20-minute “TED Talk” lecture, and the other, ANAD, will be about 20 hours long.

Yeah.

WHAT’S THAT ALL ABOUT?

We’re really stoked on super-long-form documentaries because they allow the viewer to really get to know the characters, accompany them on their journey, and become uniquely engaged. Here’s a good (but not-yet-edited) example:

It’s individuals like Billy O (above) and Paul Huang that make super-long-form features so powerful and so appealing. These people cannot be abridged.

But 20 hours is only an estimate- the material will ultimately dictate the length. And the film will also be divided into four or five segments, for easier digestion.

The film will be distributed exclusively on high-capacity USB keys and bit torrent.

ARE YOU GUYS QUALIFIED TO CREATE IT?

A few years back, Gary conceived and birthed a 10.5-hour-long documentary film called Earth Tour. It took years to create, but turned out really well and most viewers say they “wish it was longer” (available here as a by-donation torrent).

ANAD will be the sequel, conceptually and stylistically.

WHO ELSE WILL BE INVOLVED?

The other key player is our Resident Banana Video Wizard named Smitty. He really knows what’s up, so we should be good.

We’ll release both films in September 2013, as part of a massive publicity campaign that is also going to launch The Global Party Pandemic AKA The Grand Unification Tour.
