DEPOSITS:

We will loan out about 100 boomboxes from our collection at each Party.  To ensure that we get them back at the end of the night, we need to get a deposit of $20 each for them ($40 for the best ones).  So if you want to borrow one, show up early and don’t forget your cash.  And we REALLY DO NEED THEM ALL BACK in order to keep the Party Safari going across Canada, so please don’t keep them!  If lots of them don’t get returned at the end of the night we will never come back!

MEETING POINT:

We will arrive in each city the day before and scout out the Party Route.
Then we will post the meeting point on the facebook event page.
Meet us at the meeting point at 8:00PM
If you have your own boombox, come a little early and we will help you tune it in to our Party Broadcast.
Then we turn on all the boomboxes and lead you on a DDP Party Adventure.

ALCOHOL:

As we said in the invite, we will be out in public so alcohol is not allowed.  If people are drinking openly the chances of our Party getting shut down are increased so please don’t.  If you choose to drink, do so beforehand.  If you choose to disregard our advice, please do so very discreetly, in a pop bottle or whatever.  But seriously, you will be amazed at how much fun you can have at a DDP without drinking.  We were too.  PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO IS COMING!

CHARITY FUNDRAISING:

As we said on our fundraising page, if we can raise $4000 in your city and cover our costs, whatever money we raise beyond that amount will be split 50/50 with your city’s charity of choice.  If you have a charity to recommend, please post it on the event page for your city.

COSTUME CONTEST:

Our friends from Vancouver who run www.beachtravellers.com have offered to sponsor a costume contest.
They will be running around in gorilla suits looking for the best costume- so look sharp!
We are hoping as many people as possible will join us and participate in the Red+White Canadian / Sports theme.
Don’t be left out.

-If it’s raining, just bring an umbrella and bag your boombox.. The Party WILL NOT BE CANCELLED!

THE PLAN:

For this event, Tom+Gary have chosen the most fun theme possible:
Any sport that was ever featured in the Olympics (both Summer and Winter) or should have been! So, any sport, or combination of sports that you can imagine!

We want trampoliners, hockey players, pole vaulters, footballers, skiers, skateboarders, snowboarders, ballerinas, ROLLERBLADERS, shot putters, bobsledders, weightlifters, bowlers, tug-of-war-ers, cyclists, whatever! Amateur or professional, young or old, all are invited!
But please dress only in Red+White!

And!
Bring along as many SOFT bats, balls, birdies, pucks, rackets, nets, mallets and SOFT sports-related projectiles/catchers as you can! We will combine all sports into the craziest, funniest, unruliest Party Games the world has ever witnessed!

THE MUSIC:

You can’t have a Party without music, thus:
Tom+Gary have engineered a portable Decentralized Sound System- an FM transmitter in a backpack that broadcasts Nonstop Dance Music, Jock Jams, and Classic Rock out to a huge crowd of people carrying boomboxes, which are all tuned in to our station, thereby creating a powerful+portable synchronized sound system!
The effect is truly amazing!

But unlike past Decentralized Dance Parties, this one is actually sanctioned, as we’ve been invited to lead a giant roaming Decentralized Dance Party through downtown Vancouver as part of the Made In Vancouver Festival!

The Made In Vancouver Festival is a huge outdoor arts festival organized by “I Heart Van Art” (www.iheartvanart.com) featuring the audiovisual offerings of hundreds of local Vancouver artists throughout the Olympics.
Our job is to attract as many random people as possible to our Party and then lead everyone together in a huge group as we roam through the city and Party Hearty all the way through the Made In Vancouver Fest and beyond!

This action will last many hours and is guaranteed to be the best show in town!
YOU are an essential component!
And it’s 100% FREE!

WARNING, RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISKS:

By participating in any or all events and related activities of Tom+Gary’s Dynamic Dance Party Delivery Service, you warrant and agree that:

1. You are familiar with and accept that there is always the risk of serious injury and death resulting from participation in any organized recreational activity, particularly those involving partying with Tom+Gary.

2. You have satisfied yourself, and believe, that you are physically, emotionally and mentally able to Party with Tom+Gary.

You will immediately remove yourself from participation if at any time you sense or observe any unusual hazard or unsafe condition or if you feel that you have experienced any deterioration in your physical, emotional or mental fitness, or exceeded your comfort level, for continued participation in any event or related activity.

Once again, the 6th Ever Decentralized Dance Party was the best yet!!

Literally thousands joined in on the fun and the all-night rain couldn’t even slow us down as Vancouver came together, dancing like maniacs and showing The World what it means to Party!  Big thanks!  You did Tom+Gary+Canada very, very proud!!!

Highlights included: Urban Luging up Davie, Dumpster Dancing, Granville Street Skydive+Crowdsurfing, Robson Rink Radicalysm, and 4 Brothers’ Pizza!

The next Party is slated for Saturday, Feb. 20th in Whistler.  We’re still working out details, but it looks like we’ll be chartering a Party Bus or two!  Westbeach has kindly provided us with some Party Paraphernalia and we plan to hold a Party-lympics with several fun events. The next Party after that is scheduled for Saturday, February 27th in downtown Vancouver, once again for the Made In Vancouver Festival and featuring more boomboxes, more sports, more fun, more dancing, more contests and a Very Sexy Surprise!

Once again, we spent many hundreds of dollars ($250 on balloons alone) to create that Party, and we are quite poor.  So if you had a great time last night, a donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated!  We want to throw more Parties, more often, and with more intensity- but we can’t do it alone!!  You need the Party, and the Party needs you!
